State Representative Seth Lewis joined 44 other Republicans on Wednesday as the 102nd Illinois General Assembly was sworn into office in a ceremony held at the Bank of Springfield Center near the Illinois Capitol. Rep. Lewis was elected on November 3 as the new legislative voice for Illinois’ 45th District in DuPage and Cook Counties.
Rep. Lewis says he will push a comprehensive agenda of fiscal responsibility, government accountability, ethics reform and economic growth. “A record number of people are fleeing our state in search of better opportunities in other states,” Lewis said. “We need to support public policies that make Illinois a place where people want to live, not leave.”
Lewis graduated from the University of Iowa in 1991 with a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering. While working as the vice president of operations for a small manufacturing business in Melrose Park, IL, he watched the Illinois business environment deteriorate to a point where he felt the need to change his career path. He is currently an independent small business owner and agent with State Farm Insurance.
“The unfriendly business climate in Illinois ultimately led me to run for office,” added Rep. Lewis. “Illinois has great potential. We are blessed with highways, rail and airports, and the people here are hardworking and intelligent. It’s time to turn things around and allow Illinois to become the destination state I know it can be. I plan to engineer real change in the State of Illinois.”
The 45th District includes all or portions of Addison, Bartlett, Bloomingdale, Carol Stream, Hanover Park, Itasca, Roselle, West Chicago, and Wood Dale. Residents can follow Rep.
