Newly-elected State Representative Seth Lewis (R-Bartlett) recently visited with students and staff at St. Isidore Catholic School in Bloomingdale, and shared his vision for his role as the new legislative voice for Illinois’ 45th House District.
St. Isidore is currently providing in-person and online instruction to just over 200 students in grades Pre-K – 8, with one classroom per grade level. Lewis spoke briefly with students in 3rd, 4th, and 7th grade about his new role as a lawmaker and his goal of making Illinois a place where they will want to live when they are adults. “I enjoyed speaking with the students, because they had some really good questions about my job, how I became a State Representative, and how an idea becomes a bill and ultimately a law,” said Lewis. “Eighth graders from St. Isidore usually visit Springfield every year, and while COVID-19 prevented the visit last year and will prevent it again this year, I look forward to the day when these kids can come to our state seat of government and I can help show them around the Capitol.”
Lewis also spent time with St. Isidore Director of Administration Dan Tobin, Director of Advancement Gloria Larusso, School Principal Corie Alimento, and Parish Pastor Father Jim Murphy, and together they discussed the school’s legislative priorities for 2021. “This was the first of what will be many conversations with school leaders at St. Isidore,” Lewis said. “I appreciated the invitation to sit down with these community leaders so I could learn about how I can bring their voice to important debates in Springfield.”
Lewis said school, business and community group visits will be a priority as he begins the process of building relationships with key stakeholders throughout the 45th District.
The 45th District includes all or portions of Addison, Bartlett, Bloomingdale, Carol Stream, Hanover Park, Itasca, Roselle, West Chicago, and Wood Dale. Representative Lewis’ office can be reached at (630) 349-0645, or through a contact form available at repsethlewis.com.
