Lewis Reacts to Passage of New Legislative Map

BARTLETT— State Representative Seth Lewis (R-Bartlett) released the following statement after Illinois Democrats passed a new legislative map on Tuesday, August 31.

“What we’ve seen play out over the last few days is the exact reason I have always said that politicians should not be drawing their own maps. This process has discouraged and ignored input from the general public and community groups. The map that passed tonight, and the accompanying resolution, were introduced less than two hours before they were called for a vote. This process has been designed to push through a new legislative map with as little transparency as possible. The result is a far cry from what the people of this state deserve. I’ve said it before, I’ll repeat it – politicians should not be drawing maps.”
